“Underpinnings” a show featuring art by Dorothy Freudenberg and Paul Alan Bennett opens November 4, from 5-9pm during the First Friday Gallery Walk at Tumalo Art Co.
Returning to one of her favorite subjects Dorothy Freudenberg continues to amaze with her digital creations. She layers the brilliant color of poppies together with jade green tones and black and white graphic elements, blending in calligraphy and eastern motifs to create pieces that seem to flow from one to another.
Paul Alan Bennett enjoys working in a number of different styles and media, though he is best known for his “knit” style using gouache paint. For this show he also paints in oils, creating mystical scenes that have a story to tell. Says Paul, “Working in a different style is like learning a new language. It can be challenging and fun, both for the artist and the viewer.”
