"One never knows where inspiration will come from. The background of this piece was a shot of a corrugated rusty washtub on a friend’s deck in Portland. After I had fun brightly colorizing it, the landscape quickly fell into shape, with a multitude of layers, leaves and other squiggles, leading to rich complexity. How to name such a creation? I saw a band of color leading through the image and it stuck me as being a path. So, the idea came from the wisdom of Joseph Campbell, who reminded us to follow our bliss."
