This unique metal print by Dorothy Freudenberg has metaphorical connotations. While exploring the Portland Art Museum, photographer Dorothy Freundenberg found the most interesting moment was while taking the elevator. With its bright metallic walls and lighting it was a captivating sight. Later she combined the resulting photographs digitally with a shot of trees rising in the background.
“While arts creation is improvisation, trying to name the image later is a challenge. The name ‘Elevator to the Sky”carries the suggestion of another level of meaning. While we take elevators all the time in the real world, how about getting on an elevator where there are no upper limits? How could that be experienced?”
