An Artists Path

Over the past year Dee McBrien-Lee has been developing a new series of mixed media paintings focusing on figures and occasionally faces. The figures in many of these paintings have distinctive elongated forms giving them a sense of whimsy and further abstraction.

“I have always been drawn to painting figures and have gradually worked into this current series. It affords me the opportunity to play with color and texture combined with mixed media to develop a scene or a mood with the subjects.”

Dee prefers to leave her people faceless and to blend some of the garments or features into the background to weave a more mysterious story, giving the viewer license to interpret each piece in their own way.

Dee’s wall features a full grouping of this series, large to small, this month so come in and take a look.
