"As I steadily advanced during the grueling climb to the summit, my assumption I should have come the week before was proving correct. With most of the wildflowers past peak, I lingered at the top eating lunch, enjoying the beautiful views and windless conditions. As I began my descent on the loop trail, the environment took on a fresh look of promise. A few hundred yards later, I was thrilled to find the rare combination of plant life seen here in 'Layers'. Corn lily, Indian Paintbrush and Sage provide this unique juxtaposition. A visual treat well worth working for.”—Bruce Jackson
