Leizu was a Chinese Empress, according to legend she discovered silkworms while enjoying an afternoon tea. A silkworm cocoon fell in her drink; the heat unwrapped the silk and she realized the cocoon was the source of the silk. It is said that she domesticated the worms and invented the first silk loom.
