“All summer long I looked at this Sagebrush in a natural area not far from my front porch, admiring the way the sun lit up every aspect of the gnarly plant. Finally in the fall I decided to paint it. Drawing the expressive gesture of the branches from life, then taking the canvas into the studio to finish.
