Launching Dorothy Freudenberg into new adventures & Introducing new member Holly Fischer

Digital Media photographer Dorothy Freudenberg has been a Tumalo Art Co. member and icon since we moved from our original spot in Tumalo to downtown Bend over 20 years ago. Her colorful and imaginative pieces now grace many of your walls and her indomitable spirit and energy has been a huge part of TAC’s culture, identity and success. But, there’s a time for everything, and now Dorothy has new adventures ahead. She will be in and out through the winter (we will not give her up)  and we will continue to exhibit her work into the future.

No one can really take Dorothy’s place, but Bend-based artist Holly Fischer will be filling her own newniche as a Tumalo Art Co. member this month. Holly creates fine-art photography and ceramics inspired by the beauty, scale, and texture of the natural world. Her photographic work explores images from her travels in the American West and the world. Dramatic landscapes, wildlife and fleeting moments of light and atmosphere, with an emphasis on images that feel both expansive and intimate. 

Holly’s photography has been recognized and featured by the National Park Service, Canon USA and National Geographic, reflecting a body of work grounded in both technical skill and a strong sense of place.

That same connection to nature carries into her ceramic practice, where she creates hand-built vessels and sculptural forms influenced by bark, stone, earth, and weathered organic surfaces.

Across both mediums, Holly’s work is an exploration of wild places and the enduring forms, textures, and moments that make them unforgettable. She most recently returned from her first safari in Tanzania bringing back a new body of work that captures the vast, untamed beauty of the Serengeti.
