18 x 18” oil on panel, comes in an attractive bold-faced espresso frame. Framed size is 22 x 22 inches.

I painted this scene of a typical Taos Pueblo home. The Pueblo Indians have several reservations near where I used to live and teach in New Mexico. I’m fascinated by these ladders; they lead to the top of their architecture and symbolize the earthly and spiritual realms, especially the journey of the their ancestors. They bridge the ascent from the underworld to the physical world in their tradition.
