“Allies” is part of Taylor’s “Painting the Invisible” featured show, displaying art that interprets the emotions and movements underlying her subjects, whether they be animal, human figure, a landscape or even a bowl of fruit. All of these subjects exude an essence that is sometimes elusive, especially to capture in paint. But that is Taylor’s challenge with this feature show. In this particular portrait of a Navajo woman and her horse, Taylor captures the closeness that people who live close to the land have with their animals. Those bonds are sometimes closer than blood.
