Welcoming Sculptor Kim Chavez

Kim Chavez began her art career as a ceramicist and began sculpting in bronze over 37 years ago. A member of Tumalo Art Co. when we first moved to the Old Mill District, she is now rejoining the gallery as a represented artist. We are thrilled to be able to exhibit her bronze sculptures inspired by nature and reflecting a fascination with the high desert, its wildlife with a strong sensitivity to the environment. Her work often has a wink of humor as shown in the sculpture here—Dogs in a Canoe, which is showing at the gallery now.

Kim uses stylized, simplified lines in her distinctive sculptures, combined with fine detail. Each sculpture is further enhanced with warm patinas inspired by nature. She has traveled extensively through the North and Southwest researching native wildlife and culture and has several public installations displayed throughout Central Oregon.
