SUMMARY:July—Helen Brown\, "Our Friends: Fine\, Feathered and Furry"
DESCRIPTION:The Goldens Rule \n“On a recent bike ride through the Deschutes Forest\, I spotted a dog handler with 6 dogs\, four Golden Retrievers\, one black lab and a boxer.\nI took this photo of three of the Golden’s with their attention riveted to their trainer.\nI thought it spoke volumes about the dog breed.” —Helen \n\n  \n  \n\n\nH  E  L  E  N   B  R  O  W  N\n \n  \n  \nThe exhibit opens July 3\, during the Old Mill District  First Friday Gallery Walk with a reception from 3-7 pm.\nThis exhibit revolves around animals—small and large\, wild and domestic—with whom we share this planet.\nSome we see from afar\, admiring their freedom and majesty. Some are closer to home and play a big part in our everyday lives. \n  \n \nCascades Elk celebrates these majestic animals and the majesty of the Cascade Mountains. \n  \nIn today’s world of swirling news\, we invite you to pause and celebrate the wonderful world of animals —\nthose honest\, trusting companions who enrich our homes and our lives. \n  \n  \n\nNordic Pilots are scouting above the water in one of Norway’s fjords. \n  \nNeither dogs nor cats harbor hidden agendas or ulterior motives.\nTheir desires are refreshingly simple: food\, affection\, and companionship.\nTheir devotion to those who care for them is unconditional. \n  \n \nHelen advocates for the health of all pollinators in Just Bee-cause \n  \nHelen creates her paintings on rice paper using a batik watercolor technique.\nThe distinctive texture of the medium beautifully complements the softness of fur and the delicacy of feathers\,\nbringing each subject vividly to life. She is regularly juried into Watercolor Society of Oregon exhibits\, and other invitational shows. \n  \n \nGaggle of Goldeneye follows a flock of Barrows Goldeye along the shore. \n  \nThis exhibit extends well beyond household pets. Helen’s collection also features elk\, birds\, ducks\, bees\,\na llama\, and even a panda — each capturing the spirit and character of the natural world. \n  \n  \n    • • • • • • • \n  \n  \nHelen met Yogi the llama during one\nof his ambassador visits to Bend’s\nOld Mill District on behalf of\nOregon Adaptive Sports. REI is\ncommitted to helping all people\n“get outside\,” and Yogi’s owner\,\nJeff Wagner\, supports that mission\nby inviting visitors to pet Yogi and\npose for photos with him.\nHelen was the gallerist at TAC\nthat day and took advantage of posing\nwith Yogi\, and was inspired to paint him. \nShe will donate proceeds from the sale\nof her painting\, Yogi the Llama (right)\nto Oregon Adaptive Sports\, a premier\nadaptive sports organization in the\nPacific Northwest that provides\nyear-round outdoor recreation\nprograms. OAS creates access to more\nthan 2\,000 outdoor experiences\nannually for over 400 individuals.\nIn an added gesture of support\,\nJeff Wagner has offered to match\nthe donation\, doubling\nthe benefit to the organization. \n  \n  \n• • • • • • • \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nThe Deschutes River is a playground for dogs. Swim Team depicts two labs enjoying their dip. \n  \n• • • • • • • \n  \nJoin us in celebrating both America’s 250th birthday and Mother Nature’s enduring gifts during\nTumalo Art Co’s. First Friday Gallery Walk reception from 3-7pm\, July 3.\nChat with the artists\, enjoy great food\, and immerse yourself in the artwork throughout the gallery . \nOur vibrant Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk includes galleries\, studios and various stores\nthat host different artists every month. Just upstairs from Tumalo Art Co. you will find\nLubbesmeyers Studio & Gallery\, and Stacks Studios & Gallery. A new addition to the Old Mill District—men’s store\, REVOLVR\,\nwill have local photographer Toni Toreno this month. Stop by TAC—we have flyers and will help get started on an eye-candy evening.
