Description

27.5 x 33 monoprint, matted and framed. The talking stick was an ancient and powerful “communication tool” used in many Indigenous cultures. It ensured a code of conduct of respect during meetings. The person holding the stick, and only that person, is designated as having the right to speak and all others must listen quietly and respectfully. Colorful and bold, I hope this print "speaks" to the message of listening and to further send the message that communication is vital in any relationship, civic engagement or to live in society. Also of note, the talking sticks connect to sticks (maybe people) of "like mind" but also there is a reaching out and connecting to those of different viewpoints.
