"To be in the moment with all senses engaged, receptive to daily miracles, is my challenge as an artist. I form a relationship with my subject; and if I am completely present and the relationship is authentic, then the work has the potential of communicating something special and unique for each viewer. Not unlike watching my three-year-old son, Cole, completely consumed by a belly laugh, or my teen-aged daughters, Claire, lovingly goofing around with her friends and, Madeline, giving me a spontaneous hug, these moments of presence and celebration also occur for me as I paint. My painting is always a quest for the truth and authenticity of the moment. When I enter these moments, the painting flows, and I use the language of shapes, color, line, and composition to create a work that may offer a similarly beautiful and meaningful experience for others."

Alisa Huntley works in a variety of mediums and surfaces, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel. Her newest project is painting with oil on aluminum. Her favored method of painting in transparent, fluid layers is enhanced by the reflective surface of the aluminum. Her first complete showing of these new works on aluminum will be in October at Tumalo Art Company.

Alisa lives in Bend, Oregon where the beauty of the surrounding deserts, mountains, and rivers provide a huge source of inspiration for her painting.
